Application Method
- Abstract submission is available online only. Please refer to the detailed online abstract submission guidelines below.
- Presenters are required to submit an English abstract. The English abstract will be published in Experimental Animals Vol. 74-Supple (2025) on J-Stage.
Eligibility & Presentation Qualifications
- Abstracts for the general section will be either oral or poster presentation.
- Abstracts for the Outstanding Presentation Award section must include both an oral and a poster presentation.
- The first author of the abstracts for the above sections must be a member of the JALAS or AFLAS, and as a rule, each member may submit only one abstract.
- Non-members are required to complete the JALAS or AFLAS membership registration before submitting the abstract.
For details on how to join, please refer to the "Membership Guide" on the Japanese Association for Laboratory Animal Science website. Please contact the relevant administrative offices for joining the national societies of laboratory animal science in each country.
Outstanding Presentation Award
The "Outstanding Presentation Award" will be granted to particularly excellent presentations given by regular members (including student members) of JALAS at the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Japanese Association for Laboratory Animal Science, in order to encourage the development of experimental animal researchers. However, the award will be given only once per member, and priority may be given to those who are early in their career or those whose work shows great promise, particularly those who have recently obtained their degree or are expected to make significant contributions in the future.
Entry for the Outstanding Presentation Award is limited to one abstract per member, and only those who have not previously won the award are eligible.
Those wishing to enter should register their abstract for the Outstanding Presentation Award through the 72nd Annual Meeting website during the abstract submission period. If there are many applicants, a first-round review (document review) will be conducted.
Winners will be awarded at the networking session on May 22 (Thu).
Presentation Methods
- Oral Sessions
- Presentations will be given using a computer-connected projector.
- Poster Sessions
- Presentations will be in the form of posters.
- Posters should be created with dimensions of 180 cm (height) x 90 cm (width) or smaller.
Online Abstract Submission Guidelines
The abstract submission will use the Confit abstract submission system. After logging in with your Confit account, please complete your participant registration and proceed to abstract submission. Note that only after participant registration you can proceed abstract submission.
When registering for a Confit account, you will be asked to set a password. This will allow you to make changes to your submitted information as many times as needed until the submission deadline. However, it is the responsibility of the registrant to securely manage and remember the password.
Note: Due to security reasons, we do not respond to inquiries regarding your password.

Please choose your preferred presentation format: "Outstanding Presentation Award," "Oral," or "Poster." If you are open to either a general oral or poster presentation, please select ”Oral or Poster."

- Abstract Registration Details
Please ensure that the abstract title, presenter names (up to 15), affiliation names (up to 15 institutions), and the abstract body fit within the input space (figures and tables are not allowed). Abstracts that exceed the space limit cannot be submitted. Additionally, please note that special characters outside of the JIS First and Second level are not allowed.

- Word Count Limitations
The following word count limits apply for abstract submissions:
- English Title: 100 half-width characters
- Total English Word Count (author names, affiliations, title, and abstract): 1,700 half-width characters (for all abstracts)
Note: Half-width characters, alphanumeric characters, and symbols all count as one character. Spaces and line breaks also count as one character each. When entering text directly into the input field, use the text editor to apply text formatting (bold, italics, underline, superscript, subscript).
If you create your text in a software like MS Word and then copy and paste it into the input field, any text formatting (bold, italics, underline, superscript, subscript) will be automatically carried over.
- If You Do Not Receive a Registration Number via E-mail
If you do not receive a registration number by e-mail after completing your registration, it is possible that the registration was not completed correctly. Please check your submission status to confirm. If your registration was not successful, please follow the steps again to re-register.
Abstract Registration (New Registration, Confirmation, Modification, Deletion)
- New Registration:
To register a new abstract, log in with your Confit account and click the "New Submission" button in the submission area.
- Confirmation, Modification, Deletion:
To confirm, modify, or delete a submitted abstract, log in with your Confit account and click the corresponding button in the submission status area.
Abstract Acceptance Notification
- Notifications regarding abstract acceptance or rejection will be sent to the e-mail address of the first author that was provided during registration.
- The results will be announced via e-mail by the end of March 2025. The program will also be posted on the website.
